A thriving primary school in Chelmsford is looking to appoint a Site Manager to join the team from September 2026. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced premises professional who enjoys taking ownership of a busy school site. Working alongside the School Business Manager and leadership team, you'll help ensure the school remains a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The Role
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the school premises, ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard and fully compliant with health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the school site
- Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs
- Coordinating contractors and monitoring completed works
- Ensuring health and safety checks are completed and recorded
- Opening and securing the school buildings
- Supervising cleaning and premises staff where required
- Monitoring site security and responding to maintenance requests
- Supporting school events and lettings outside normal school hours when needed

The Successful Candidate

The school is looking for someone with strong organisational skills, a practical approach to maintenance, and a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities. The ability to prioritise workloads and build positive relationships with staff and contractors is essential.
