Ofsted ‘Good’ Primary School in Chelmsford, Essex is seeking an enthusiastic Receptionist to join its welcoming and supportive team from September 2026. The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Act as the first point of contact for parents, pupils, visitors, and staff
  • Provide a warm, friendly, and professional front-of-house service
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls, emails, and enquiries
  • Manage visitor sign-in procedures and safeguarding checks
  • Maintain accurate pupil attendance, late arrivals, and signing in/out records
  • Carry out general administrative duties including filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry
  • Support school staff with correspondence, bookings, and diary management
  • Assist with school trips, events, meetings, and wider office administration
  • Provide first aid or pupil welfare support where required (training can be provided)
  • Contribute positively to the smooth day-to-day running of the school office
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has previous receptionist, customer service, or administrative experience
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is professional, approachable, and calm in a busy environment
  • Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Is confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office (school systems training provided)
