A well-regarded secondary school in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced and highly organised Examinations Officer to join its professional support staff team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the smooth administration and delivery of internal and external examinations within a supportive and collaborative school environment.
Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, students and examination boards, you will oversee all aspects of the examinations process, ensuring compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations while providing an outstanding service to students and staff.

The Opportunity
- Manage the planning, organisation and administration of all internal and external examinations.
- Ensure examinations are conducted in accordance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
- Coordinate examination entries, timetables, seating plans and candidate information.
- Recruit, train and manage a team of examination invigilators.
- Liaise with teaching staff, senior leaders, students, parents and examination boards regarding examination arrangements.
- Process examination results, post-results services and certification accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate examination records and ensure the secure handling of confidential materials.
- Support the school's assessment calendar and contribute to continuous improvement of examination procedures.
About You
- Have previous experience working as an Examinations Officer or within a school examinations or administrative environment.
- Possess excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Have a thorough understanding of JCQ regulations and examination procedures, or be willing to develop this knowledge.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to manage multiple deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Be highly proficient in Microsoft Office and school Management Information Systems (such as Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom).
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative school team.
