An established independent school in Chelmsford, Essex is looking to appoint an experienced Examinations Officer to oversee the smooth and compliant delivery of examinations from September 2026. This is a key administrative role within the school, managing the examination cycle from entries and timetabling through to results and post-results services. You'll work closely with teaching staff, students, parents and examination boards to ensure every stage is organised accurately and efficiently.
The Role
- Managing entries, amendments and examination timetables
- Coordinating internal and external examinations
- Ensuring compliance with JCQ and examination board regulations
- Preparing examination rooms, papers and materials
- Recruiting, training and coordinating exam invigilators
- Managing access arrangements alongside the SEND team
- Maintaining secure examination records and documentation
- Coordinating results days and post-results services
- Liaising with students, parents, staff and examination boards
- Producing examination reports and maintaining accurate records
About You
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, reliable and comfortable working to strict deadlines. Previous experience as an Examinations Officer or within school examinations administration would be advantageous. You'll need excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm when managing busy examination periods. A good understanding of JCQ regulations and examination procedures would be beneficial, although relevant training can be provided for the right candidate.
