A successful Secondary School in Carlisle is seeking a creative and organised Art Technician to join its thriving Art department on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for art and design who enjoys supporting both students and teachers in a practical, creative environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the department operates efficiently while helping students access a wide range of artistic materials and techniques.

Working closely with the Head of Art and teaching staff, you will prepare classrooms and specialist workspaces for lessons, ensuring all equipment, materials and resources are ready before practical sessions begin. You will support the delivery of lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5 by preparing paints, clay, printmaking equipment, textiles resources and specialist art materials. You will maintain stock levels, order new equipment, organise storage areas and ensure the department remains tidy, safe and well presented throughout the school year. Responsibilities also include maintaining kilns, easels and specialist equipment, mounting and displaying student artwork and supporting exhibitions, open evenings and whole-school events.

The successful candidate will assist with health and safety procedures, ensuring materials are stored correctly and equipment is maintained to a high standard. You will also help prepare GCSE and A-Level coursework displays and support enrichment activities including art clubs and competitions. This role would suit an organised, practical and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working in a creative educational environment.
