The appointed Caretaker will be the first point of contact for site matters, undertaking daily checks, routine maintenance and ensuring the school is secure and presentable. The Caretaker will carry out daily opening and closing procedures, health & safety checks, basic repairs, and co-ordinate contractors when specialist work is required. Working in Merton, the Caretaker will manage lettings setups, maintain external grounds, clear paths and ensure waste and recycling routines are followed. The Merton site values a practical Caretaker who can prioritise tasks, respond to emergencies and maintain accurate logs of work.
Responsibilities- Perform daily opening/closing checks, site security and routine safety inspections.
- Carry out general repairs, basic plumbing/electrical tasks and furniture moves.
- Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and communal systems; coordinate contractor visits.
- Maintain external areas, clear leaves/snow where required and manage waste/recycling.
- Support lettings, set up rooms and provide a visible, helpful presence for staff and visitors in Merton.
