A well-resourced primary school in Bradford is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join the site team from January 2026. The successful Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining buildings, carrying out routine checks, supporting site security and ensuring that the school environment is safe and welcoming for pupils and staff. This Caretaker role in Bradford includes general repairs, daily opening and locking procedures and assisting with lettings and events. The Caretaker will take part in a structured induction prior to January 2026 and will be fully operational from January 2026.
- Carry out daily opening and closing of the school, secure buildings and check alarms.
- Maintain cleaning and premises standards, undertake general repairs and basic maintenance.
- Support lettings, setting up rooms for events and ensuring site cleanliness after use.
- Monitor health & safety checks, report defects and work with contractors to resolve issues.
- Maintain logs and records of site activities, stock and equipment as required.
Person specification:
- Experience in caretaking, site maintenance or premises work, preferably within education or community settings.
- Practical DIY skills, able to carry out general repairs and to use basic tools safely.
- Good understanding of health & safety, manual handling and premises procedures.
- Reliable, flexible and able to work across Bradford with availability from January.
- A customer-focused approach when liaising with staff, visitors and external contractors in Bradford.
