The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support across the department, ensuring laboratories, equipment and resources are fully prepared for lessons and maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing practical experiments and demonstrations.
- Setting up laboratory equipment and resources.
- Preparing chemicals and materials safely.
- Supporting teachers with practical lessons.
- Maintaining laboratories and preparation rooms.
- Cleaning and storing scientific equipment.
- Ordering and replenishing resources.
- Checking equipment for damage or faults.
- Maintaining laboratory records.
- Following COSHH and health and safety procedures.
- Ensuring practical activities are prepared safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician within a school is essential.
- Previous secondary school laboratory experience.
- Good understanding of laboratory health and safety.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Practical and methodical approach.
- Ability to manage multiple practical requirements.
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
