A high achieving and academically ambitious secondary school in Cambridge is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join its well-resourced Science department as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to support practical Science provision within a structured environment where high standards and strong examination outcomes are consistently achieved.
The Science department delivers a broad and ambitious curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with strong uptake at GCSE and A Level. Practical work is central to teaching and learning, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard.
The Role
- Preparing equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons across KS3–KS5
- Supporting complex practical investigations and demonstrations
- Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating servicing or repairs
- Managing stock control and ordering supplies efficiently
- Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required
- Maintaining detailed compliance and health & safety documentation
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day organisation of the Science department
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience in a laboratory or school-based technician role
- Strong understanding of laboratory health & safety and COSHH procedures
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence supporting GCSE and A Level practical work
- A proactive, reliable, and professional approach
