A well-established and high-performing secondary school in Cambridge is seeking a committed Science Technician to join their collaborative Science department from January. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, contributing to an academic environment, and supporting the delivery of high-quality Science education across KS3–KS5.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe running of the school’s laboratories. Working closely with a friendly team of teachers and fellow technicians, you will support the practical elements of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing reagents, equipment, and practical resources for daily lessons
- Setting up and clearing away apparatus for demonstrations and student experiments
- Ensuring safe storage, accurate labelling, and responsible handling of chemicals
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, glassware, and technical machinery
- Supporting teachers during practical sessions where appropriate
- Helping maintain a safe working environment in line with COSHH, CLEAPSS, and school Health & Safety protocols
- Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and managing an organised prep room
- Supporting revision sessions, STEM events, Science fairs, clubs, or enrichment activities
