Drama Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

An Outstanding Secondary School in Cambridge is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative Drama Teacher to join its successful Performing Arts department from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Drama across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons that inspire students to develop confidence, creativity, and performance skills.

Students study a broad curriculum covering performance techniques, script work, devising, theatre practitioners, live performance analysis, and dramatic interpretation. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations while encouraging them to develop their own creative voice and critical understanding of theatre.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the Performing Arts department through school productions, theatre visits, workshops, drama clubs, and enrichment opportunities that allow students to showcase their talents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Drama across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations

  • Develop students’ performance, analytical, and creative skills

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support school productions, clubs, and performing arts events

  • Encourage confidence, collaboration, and creative expression

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Drama at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge of Drama and Theatre Studies

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Drama

  • Experience directing school productions or performances

  • Ability to contribute to wider Performing Arts activities

  • A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
