Science Teacher Role in an Independent School
An established Independent School in Brighton is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join its successful Science department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
Students follow a broad and ambitious curriculum that develops scientific knowledge, practical skills, and analytical thinking. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science qualifications while inspiring them to understand the relevance of science in the wider world and supporting progression into STEM-related pathways.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through science clubs, practical workshops, competitions, educational visits, and enrichment activities that encourage students to explore science beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations
Develop students’ scientific enquiry, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Plan and supervise practical investigations safely and effectively
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM enrichment activities and science initiatives

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching Science at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Science
A specialist degree in a scientific discipline
Experience supporting STEM clubs or enrichment activities
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
