Economics Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

An outstanding secondary school in Brighton is seeking to appoint an Economics Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values analytical thinking, academic excellence, and high-quality teaching.

Economics is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills while exploring microeconomics, macroeconomics, global markets, and contemporary economic issues.

About the Role

You will teach Economics primarily at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually challenging lessons that develop students’ understanding of economic theory and real-world application.

Students will explore topics including market structures, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, international trade, and economic development while strengthening essay writing, data interpretation, and evaluative skills.

You will prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations, supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge, confidence, and exam technique.

Where applicable, there may also be opportunities to contribute to Business or related subjects at Key Stage 4.

You will work collaboratively within a successful department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Economics at KS5

  • Deliver engaging and analytical Economics lessons

  • Prepare students for A-Level Economics examinations

  • Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support enterprise, finance, or enrichment opportunities

  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Economics at secondary or sixth form level

  • Strong subject knowledge in Economics

  • Ability to teach KS5 confidently

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Ability to teach Business Studies or related subjects

  • Experience preparing students for A-Level Economics examinations

  • Ability to contribute to enterprise or enrichment activities
