Design & Technology Teaching Role in an 11β18 Secondary School
A forward-thinking 11β18 Secondary School in Brighton is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join its successful Technology department from September. About the Role
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that combine creativity with technical precision and practical application.
Students will study areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, engineering principles, CAD/CAM, and iterative design processes. You will support learners in developing workshop skills, technical understanding, and confidence in designing and making high-quality outcomes.
The successful candidate will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level qualifications while contributing to STEM enrichment, design competitions, and wider departmental initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Support students with design, prototyping, and coursework projects
Maintain safe workshop practices and high standards of organisation
Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM and creative enrichment opportunities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Product Design, Resistant Materials, or Engineering
Excellent classroom and workshop management skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Design & Technology
Experience using CAD/CAM and modern workshop technologies
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment programmes
Strong track record of improving student outcomes
