A well-resourced primary school in Bradford is seeking a proactive and experienced Premises Manager to join the team from January 2026. The appointed Premises Manager will be responsible for leading the school’s premises strategy, overseeing maintenance programmes, ensuring statutory compliance and coordinating contractor activity. This role will be central to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff, and will include management of the premises budget and planned improvements.
The Premises Manager will schedule and monitor routine checks, manage site staff, support lettings and community use, and liaise with the School Business Manager and senior leaders to prioritise works. The school values practical problem-solving, clear record-keeping and excellent contractor management; the Premises Manager will be expected to develop and maintain robust compliance documentation and to drive cost-effective solutions.
Responsibilities:- Lead premises planning: create maintenance schedules, monitor work and oversee reactive repairs.
- Ensure statutory compliance including fire safety, legionella, asbestos and health & safety checks.
- Manage site staff, coordinate contractors and oversee lettings, ensuring site standards for all users.
- Monitor premises budgets, order supplies and prepare reports on maintenance activity and costs.
- Maintain accurate records and risk assessments and support the school’s emergency planning.
- Significant experience in premises or facilities management with demonstrable leadership ability.
- Strong working knowledge of statutory compliance obligations and H&S best practice.
- Practical, organised and skilled in contractor management and basic trades work.
- Clear communicator, able to work with governors, leaders and external stakeholders across Bradford.
- Available to take up post January 2026 with induction and handover activities before January 2026.
