A successful Secondary School in Blackpool is looking to appoint a dedicated and organised Science Technician to support its thriving Science department on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for practical science who enjoys working in a busy educational environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics while ensuring laboratories remain safe, organised and fully equipped throughout the academic year. Working alongside the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare practical experiments, equipment and materials for lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will ensure chemicals are stored safely, apparatus is maintained to a high standard and laboratories are ready before each lesson begins.
The role includes maintaining stock levels, ordering equipment and consumables, carrying out regular equipment checks, preparing specialist resources for demonstrations and ensuring all practical activities comply with current health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidance. You will also support extracurricular STEM activities, science clubs, revision sessions and enrichment events, helping to inspire students' enthusiasm for science beyond the classroom.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational skills, strong practical knowledge and the ability to work collaboratively within a busy department while maintaining consistently high standards.
