A creative and welcoming secondary school in Blackpool is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised Art Technician to support its successful Creative Arts department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for the arts who enjoys working behind the scenes to help deliver engaging and inspiring practical lessons. The successful candidate will play an important role in preparing materials, maintaining specialist equipment and ensuring the department continues to provide an exciting learning environment for students.
Working closely with teaching staff, you will help ensure lessons run smoothly by preparing resources, maintaining studios and supporting students during practical activities where appropriate. The school is seeking someone who is proactive, well organised and able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a safe and creative workspace.
This role would suit someone with experience in an educational setting, a creative environment or anyone with a strong interest in art who enjoys practical, hands-on work.

Art Department
The Art department is a vibrant and inspiring space where students are encouraged to explore a variety of artistic techniques, materials and creative processes. As Art Technician, you will provide essential practical support by ensuring teaching spaces remain organised, well stocked and fully prepared for lessons.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing art materials and equipment for practical lessons.
Organising classrooms and specialist studios before and after lessons.
Maintaining and cleaning art equipment, tools and workspaces.
Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.
Assisting with the safe storage of equipment and student artwork.
Supporting teachers during practical classroom activities where appropriate.
Preparing displays and exhibitions showcasing students' work.
Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed within the department.
Maintaining specialist equipment including kilns and printing equipment where applicable.
Assisting with GCSE and A-Level coursework preparation.
Supporting extracurricular art clubs and school exhibitions.
Helping to create an inspiring and well-presented learning environment.
The department works collaboratively and values the important contribution made by technical staff in supporting both teaching and student achievement.
Requirements
Experience working within an art environment or educational setting is desirable.
Knowledge of a range of artistic materials and techniques.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Practical problem-solving ability.
Understanding of health and safety procedures within practical classrooms.
