We are seeking a reliable and proactive Finance Officer to support the school’s day-to-day financial administration. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and school administration to ensure financial processes are accurate, efficient and compliant with relevant procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day financial administration, including invoices, purchase orders, payments and income.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are processed correctly.

  • Support budget monitoring and provide financial information to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and financial records and investigate discrepancies where required.

  • Process staff expenses, payments and other financial documentation.

  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors and external organisations regarding invoices and payments.

  • Assist with financial reporting, audits and year-end procedures.

  • Ensure financial procedures comply with school policies and relevant regulations.

  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and staff information.

  • Provide general administrative support to the school business function when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance, accounts or school finance position.

  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience processing invoices, payments, reconciliations and financial records.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial administration systems.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Professional and discreet when handling confidential information.

  • Understanding of financial procedures and compliance requirements.

  • Experience within a school or education environment is desirable.
