Maths Teaching Role in a University Technical College

A dynamic University Technical College in Birmingham is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. Mathematics plays a central role in the curriculum, supporting students as they develop the analytical and problem-solving skills required for further study, apprenticeships, and careers in engineering, digital technologies, and industry.

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that enable students to achieve excellent academic outcomes.

The curriculum includes algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and mathematical reasoning, with opportunities to teach A-Level Mathematics or Core Maths depending on your experience. You will demonstrate how mathematical concepts apply to real-world engineering, computing, and technical contexts, helping students appreciate the practical value of the subject.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to curriculum development, intervention programmes, and enrichment activities that raise attainment and promote a passion for mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons with real-world applications

  • Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level, and Core Maths qualifications

  • Develop students’ fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Assess student progress and provide detailed, constructive feedback

  • Support intervention strategies to improve attainment

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Promote participation in STEM projects, maths challenges, and enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics or Core Maths

  • Interest in applying mathematics to engineering, computing, or technical disciplines

  • Experience contributing to STEM enrichment activities

  • Strong track record of improving student outcomes
