An Outstanding secondary school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a capable and detail-focused Finance Officer to join its business support team from October Half Term 2026. This is a varied position supporting the day-to-day running of the school's finance function, with responsibility for accurate financial administration, supplier payments, reconciliations and budget monitoring. The role would suit an experienced Finance Officer, Finance Administrator or Accounts Assistant who is looking to develop their career within an education setting.
The Role
- Processing invoices, purchase orders and payments
- Completing bank and financial reconciliations
- Monitoring expenditure against departmental budgets
- Supporting budget holders with financial queries
- Preparing financial reports and management information
- Assisting with payroll and pension administration
- Managing supplier accounts and resolving payment queries
- Supporting procurement and obtaining quotations
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews
About You
You'll have previous experience in a finance or accounts role, with strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail. School or academy experience would be advantageous, but candidates with relevant finance experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply. You should be confident using Excel and financial systems, comfortable handling confidential information and able to manage deadlines without compromising accuracy.
