We are seeking an energetic and inspirational Female PE Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary academy. The Department & Sporting Culture
You will join a high-performing Physical Education faculty that prides itself on a diverse and modern curriculum designed to engage every student. The academy features premium facilities, including a multi-use sports centre, floodlit pitches, and dedicated studios for dance and rhythmic gymnastics. As an 'Outstanding' setting, we prioritise a holistic approach to PE, linking physical performance with mental resilience, leadership, and nutritional science. We maintain active partnerships with Birmingham’s elite sporting institutions, providing students with pathways into professional coaching, officiating, and competitive club sport.
Core Responsibilities
- Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-impact PE lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE PE and BTEC Sport for suitably qualified candidates.
- Participation Strategy: Developing innovative programmes specifically designed to increase female engagement in sport and reduce barriers to physical activity.
- Coaching & Extra-Curricular: Leading and managing the academy’s representative teams in local and regional competitions across a variety of disciplines, including netball, football, and athletics.
- Theoretical Rigour: Delivering the academic components of the curriculum, ensuring students master the complexities of anatomy, physiology, and socio-cultural issues in sport.
- Role Model Leadership: Acting as a mentor for female students, fostering a culture of body confidence, teamwork, and competitive integrity.
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a subject specialist who is passionate about the transformative impact of physical education. Requirements include:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Physical Education or a related Sports Science discipline.
- Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering high-quality practical and theoretical lessons, with a deep understanding of current GCSE and vocational assessment frameworks.
- Dynamic Presence: The ability to motivate students of all abilities through high-energy teaching and a genuine passion for physical fitness.
