Our school embraces a child-centred, play-based curriculum where children’s holistic development is prioritised. Staff are supported in developing their skills in early intervention, SEN support, and safeguarding practices. We have a strong focus on inclusion, ensuring children of all abilities can engage meaningfully in learning. Our EYFS unit works with children who may have autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social-emotional challenges. You will assist with lesson planning, delivering interventions, and supervising play-based learning activities. Your role is vital in helping children develop social skills, communication, early literacy and numeracy, and self-regulation. You will support staff in monitoring progress against Individual Education Plans (IEPs), promoting independence, and ensuring a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for EYFS pupils, particularly those with SEN.
  • Assist in planning and delivering structured learning and play-based activities.
  • Implement targeted interventions to support social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Support pupils in developing self-regulation, communication, and confidence.
  • Observe, document, and report on progress for children with SEN.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to maintain consistency.
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom and outdoor environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative practices.
  • Assist children with personal care where necessary, in line with safeguarding protocols.
  • Encourage exploration, creativity, and curiosity in learning.

Person Specification:

  • Have previous EYFS experience, ideally including SEN children.
  • Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic.
  • Possess knowledge of child development and play-based pedagogy.
  • Be able to implement interventions and structured learning support.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be confident with safeguarding procedures.
  • Hold a TA qualification (desirable).

Training and Development:

  • EYFS and SEN-focused professional development, including autism awareness and early intervention strategies.
  • Mentoring and support from experienced staff.
  • Opportunities for career progression into specialist SEN or EYFS leadership roles.

Safeguarding Commitment:

The school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
