About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons that challenge students and develop their analytical, creative, and communication skills.

Students study a broad curriculum including English Literature, English Language, literary criticism, creative writing, and examination preparation. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level qualifications while encouraging independent thinking, confident discussion, and a deeper appreciation of literature.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the college through academic mentoring, reading initiatives, enrichment activities, guest lectures, and opportunities that extend students’ learning beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching English at secondary or post-16 level

  • Ability to teach GCSE and A-Level English confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or Language
