Design & Technology Teacher Role in a Faith Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons that inspire creativity, innovation, and technical excellence.
The department is well resourced with modern workshops and equipment, enabling students to develop skills in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, and CAD/CAM technologies where appropriate. You will encourage learners to apply problem-solving skills, develop confidence in practical work, and prepare for further education and careers within design, engineering, and manufacturing.
Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who are passionate about delivering an outstanding Design & Technology curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Promote safe working practices within workshops and specialist classrooms
Assess progress and provide constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM and Design & Technology enrichment activities
Inspire creativity, innovation, and technical problem-solving

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Ability to teach a DT specialism at KS5
Experience using CAD/CAM technologies and modern workshop equipment
Commitment to STEM enrichment and extracurricular activities
A passion for inspiring students through creative and practical learning
