We are looking for an experienced School Administrator to provide additional support within the main school office of a busy secondary school in Birmingham. The successful candidate will need to be confident working independently, comfortable dealing with a wide range of enquiries and able to keep on top of detailed administrative work. Previous experience within a school is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a range of day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Maintain accurate pupil and staff records.
- Update school databases and internal systems.
- Draft, format and proofread letters, reports and correspondence.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
- Support staff with administrative requests.
- Assist with meetings, appointments and school events.
Reception & Enquiries
- Provide reception cover as required.
- Welcome visitors and ensure appropriate procedures are followed.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to enquiries.
- Deal with parent and carer enquiries professionally.
- Liaise with staff and external agencies where required.
Data & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Complete data entry and administrative checks.
- Maintain spreadsheets and trackers.
- Handle confidential information appropriately.
- Follow school procedures relating to safeguarding and data protection.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working in a school administration position.
- Experience using a school MIS/database.
- Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
- Excellent written English and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Professional approach when dealing with pupils, parents, staff and visitors.
- Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection.
- Experience of Arbor, attendance, admissions or school finance administration would be beneficial.
