We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Biology Teacher to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Birmingham, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate science teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality Biology lessons and inspiring students to develop a genuine interest in the subject. As a Biology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will support students of varying abilities, ensuring all learners are challenged, supported, and motivated to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality Biology lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
- Assess, track, and monitor student progress effectively
- Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations in the classroom
- Prepare students for GCSE and, where applicable, A-level examinations
- Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the science department
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding progress
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Have a strong subject knowledge in Biology
- Have experience teaching Biology at secondary level
- Be enthusiastic, organised, and reflective in their practice
- Have strong classroom management skills
- Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
