A high-performing Secondary School in Birmingham is seeking to appoint a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and student support team. About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school. Working closely with senior leaders, Heads of Year, safeguarding staff, students, families, and external agencies, you will identify attendance concerns, implement interventions, and support strategies that encourage regular attendance and engagement with learning.

You will maintain accurate attendance records, analyse attendance data, communicate effectively with parents and carers, and ensure that all attendance procedures comply with statutory guidance and school policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily student attendance and punctuality
  • Investigate and follow up unexplained absences
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies regarding attendance concerns
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and reports
  • Analyse attendance data to identify trends and target interventions
  • Support attendance improvement plans and pastoral strategies
  • Work closely with safeguarding, pastoral, and leadership teams
  • Promote a positive culture of attendance, punctuality, and engagement
