A welcoming Primary School in Bicester is seeking to appoint an organised and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the smooth operation, maintenance, and development of its school site. About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school premises, ensuring that all facilities, buildings, and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard.

You will oversee maintenance schedules, manage contractors, monitor compliance requirements, and support health and safety procedures across the site. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise competing demands in a busy educational environment.

You will also support improvement projects, site security, lettings arrangements, and general operational needs to ensure the school provides a safe and effective environment for learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and statutory requirements

  • Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers

  • Monitor site security, access arrangements, and emergency procedures

  • Maintain accurate records relating to compliance and inspections

  • Support premises improvement projects and refurbishment works

  • Ensure the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well presented

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in facilities, estates, premises, or site management

  • Strong understanding of health and safety and building compliance

  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance works

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively

Desirable

  • Experience working within a primary school or education setting

  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification

  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within a school environment

  • Experience managing budgets and improvement projects
