The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support children who struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social interaction. Pupils may present with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, or trauma-related behaviours. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted interventions, emotional support, and consistent behaviour strategies. This role requires a calm, patient, and child-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and emotional support
  • Deliver small group behaviour and social skills interventions
  • Support pupils in classroom and play-based learning environments
  • Assist children during transitions and unstructured times
  • Implement and review behaviour support plans
  • Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches
  • Collaborate with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Track, monitor, and report on pupil progress
  • Build strong relationships with families and carers
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards

The Ideal Candidate

You will be empathetic, resilient, and passionate about working with young children. The school is seeking someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can support children with consistency and compassion. You should demonstrate:

  • Experience in a Primary, Nursery, or EYFS setting
  • Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, and early childhood development

  • Experience in childcare, education, psychology, youth work, or mental health is highly desirable.
