A welcoming Primary School in Basildon is looking for a highly organised Attendance & Admissions Officer to take responsibility for maintaining accurate attendance information and supporting the school's admissions processes. This is a role for someone who is confident working with parents and carers, comfortable managing sensitive information and able to maintain accurate records even when working to tight deadlines.

Attendance is a key part of ensuring pupils receive the education and support they need, and the successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring attendance patterns and following up unexplained absences. You will review attendance information on a daily basis, identify unexplained or concerning absences and contact parents or carers where appropriate. You will record all communication accurately and ensure that relevant information is passed to pastoral or safeguarding colleagues when necessary.

The role will require a professional but approachable communication style. Some conversations with families may be sensitive, particularly where there are ongoing attendance concerns, so you will need to remain calm, respectful and solution-focused.

Alongside attendance, you will support the school's admissions administration. This may include maintaining pupil records, processing documentation, communicating with families and ensuring information is accurately entered into the school's systems. You will also work closely with senior leaders, teachers, pastoral staff and other administrative colleagues. Strong organisation is essential because the role involves balancing daily attendance responsibilities with longer-term administrative tasks.

Attendance & Admissions Officer - Experience and Requirements

  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Experience with attendance, admissions or pupil records is desirable.
