About the Role
You will take responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging and creative lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum while supporting pupils as they build upon the foundations established during the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The role will involve developing pupils' literacy, numeracy, phonics, and communication skills while fostering curiosity, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.
Working closely with colleagues, support staff, and parents, you will play a key role in ensuring that every pupil achieves their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a Year 1 class across the full Key Stage 1 curriculum
Deliver high-quality phonics and early reading instruction
Plan engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Assess pupil progress and provide effective feedback
Support pupils' personal, social, and emotional development
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting procedures
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and events

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching within EYFS or Key Stage 1
Strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum
Excellent knowledge of phonics and early reading development
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 1
Experience working within an outstanding primary school
Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities and wider school life
Commitment to continuous professional development and educational excellence
