We’re working with an independent school in Barnet that is looking to appoint an experienced HR Officer to join its support team from October 2026.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working across different areas of HR and is confident dealing with staff, managers and confidential information. You’ll play an important part in supporting the school’s day-to-day HR function and helping ensure processes are handled accurately and efficiently.

The Role

Working as part of the school’s wider administration team, you’ll support a range of HR activities across the employee lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of new staff

  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems

  • Preparing contracts, letters and other HR documentation

  • Supporting absence and holiday administration

  • Assisting with pre-employment checks and compliance

  • Maintaining confidential personnel files

  • Responding to routine HR queries from staff and managers

  • Supporting appraisal and performance processes

  • Assisting with staff changes and leavers

  • Providing HR information and reports when required

  • Helping ensure school HR policies and procedures are followed

  • Supporting the wider administration team with general HR matters

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in HR administration or an HR Officer position and be comfortable working with confidential information.

Experience within a school or education setting would be beneficial, although candidates with solid HR experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.

You’ll need excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to manage several priorities at once. Discretion and professionalism are particularly important in this role.
