A welcoming and forward-thinking two-form entry primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join their team from January 2026. This is a full-time position, initially offered until July 2026, with the strong intention to go permanent from September 2026. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping high-quality SEND provision across the school, ensuring every pupil with additional needs receives the support and opportunities they deserve. This role includes a maximum of one hour of teaching per day, allowing the SENCO to focus primarily on strategic leadership, provision mapping, supporting staff, and working closely with families and external professionals to drive inclusive practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school.
- Oversee identification, assessment, and support of pupils with SEND, ensuring high-impact interventions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and leadership to embed inclusive practice.
- Liaise effectively with external agencies, services, and specialists.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including EHCP reviews and SEN registers.
- Provide guidance, training, and coaching for staff to enhance SEND provision.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with parents and carers.
- Teach for no more than one hour per day as required.

- Proven experience as a SENCO or in a senior SEND role.
