A highly regarded Independent Primary School in Barnet is seeking to appoint an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join its leadership team from an immediate start. Working closely with the Headteacher and Governors, the successful candidate will lead the school's operational functions, ensuring that finance, human resources, estates, compliance, and administrative services effectively support the school's strategic objectives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of the school's business operations, ensuring efficient financial management and the smooth day-to-day running of the school.

You will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, HR processes, premises management, health and safety, compliance, and contract management while contributing to the school's long-term development plans. This is a varied and rewarding leadership role requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the school through effective operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the school's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

  • Oversee HR, recruitment, payroll liaison, and personnel administration

  • Manage procurement, contracts, and supplier relationships

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety legislation, and safeguarding procedures

  • Oversee estates, facilities management, and capital improvement projects

  • Support strategic planning alongside the Headteacher and Governors

  • Lead and develop the administrative and operational support teams

  • Ensure the efficient delivery of all business and operational services across the school

  • School Business Professional qualification (ISBL) or equivalent
