Great schools need great people, and this role is about making sure those people are supported from day one. A high-performing secondary school in Barnet is looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to lead its HR function on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.

This is a broad HR role offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders while overseeing recruitment, employee relations, compliance and staff development. You'll be a trusted point of contact across the school, helping managers navigate people matters and ensuring robust HR processes are maintained.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the school's day-to-day HR operations, with responsibilities including:

  • Managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to leavers

  • Advising managers on employee relations and HR procedures

  • Coordinating safer recruitment, onboarding and pre-employment checks

  • Maintaining the Single Central Record and personnel records

  • Supporting absence, performance and capability processes

  • Reviewing and implementing HR policies and procedures

  • Liaising with payroll regarding contractual and staffing changes

  • Supporting staff wellbeing and employee engagement initiatives

About You

This role would suit an experienced HR Manager, Senior HR Officer or HR Advisor who is ready to take ownership of a busy school HR function.

You'll have strong knowledge of UK employment legislation, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to deal with sensitive matters professionally. Previous experience in education would be advantageous, particularly knowledge of safer recruitment and school HR processes.

Salary & Benefits
