The Year 3 Teacher will design and deliver engaging lessons, run short-term interventions, track pupil progress and contribute to the year-group planning cycle. This Year 3 Teacher post begins January 2026, and the successful candidate will take part in induction and planning sessions before January 2026 to ensure a confident start.

About the role

The Year 3 Teacher will plan daily lessons that secure key skills in reading, writing and maths, deliver guided reading and targeted maths support, and use assessment evidence to adapt teaching. The Year 3 Teacher will work closely with colleagues to moderate outcomes and share effective practice across the Barking partnership.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Year 3 lessons with clear progression and differentiated tasks.
  • Implement targeted interventions informed by assessment and monitor their impact on progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff to scaffold learning and meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Communicate progress effectively to parents and participate in reporting cycles across Barking.
  • Contribute to wider school activities and support transition into Key Stage 2.
Person specification
  • Qualified teacher with recent KS2 experience and demonstrable Year 3 impact.
  • Good knowledge of assessment practice, phonics progression and maths pedagogy.
  • Enthusiastic, reflective and ready to join the Barking school community in January 2026.
