About the School
A successful secondary school in Ashford is seeking a knowledgeable Science Technician to support its science department. The school requires someone practical and well organised who can help staff deliver engaging practical lessons while ensuring laboratories, equipment and resources are maintained to a high standard.
About the Role
You will work alongside science staff to prepare practical activities and maintain safe, well-equipped laboratories.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing chemicals, apparatus and materials for science lessons.
- Setting up equipment for practical demonstrations and experiments.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and reporting faults.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering consumables.
- Ensuring chemicals and laboratory materials are stored appropriately.
- Following health and safety procedures, including relevant risk assessments and COSHH requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous science technician or laboratory experience.
- School science department experience is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
