Site Manager Role in a Multi-Academy Trust Secondary School

A thriving Secondary School within a respected Multi-Academy Trust in Aylesbury is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of its premises. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the Trust's estates team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the school estate and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the school site, ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard.

You will oversee planned preventative maintenance, coordinate reactive repairs, supervise contractors, manage site security, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. The role also includes preparing facilities for school events, maintaining accurate compliance records, and supporting ongoing improvement and refurbishment projects.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site

  • Coordinate planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations

  • Supervise contractors and monitor service level agreements

  • Oversee site security, access control, and emergency procedures

  • Maintain compliance documentation and support statutory inspections

  • Assist with capital improvement and refurbishment projects

  • Ensure the school grounds and buildings remain safe, secure, and well presented

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in site, premises, facilities, or estates management

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance

  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance programmes

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Desirable

  • Experience working within a school or educational setting

  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification

  • Knowledge of school compliance, fire safety, and building regulations

  • Experience supporting refurbishment or capital projects
