If you enjoy working with people and making a real difference, this could be the perfect opportunity. A high-performing secondary school in Kempston is looking to appoint a proactive Attendance Officer to join its dedicated support staff team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.

As a key member of the pastoral team, you'll help ensure students attend school regularly, working closely with families, teaching staff and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and remove barriers to learning. Your work will directly contribute to improved outcomes and help create an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

The Opportunity

You'll take ownership of the school's attendance systems, ensuring records are accurate while supporting initiatives that improve attendance and punctuality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and identifying attendance concerns
  • Contacting parents and carers regarding student absences
  • Working with Heads of Year to implement attendance improvement plans
  • Producing attendance reports and analysing trends
  • Maintaining accurate records using the school's Management Information System
  • Supporting attendance meetings with students and families
  • Liaising with external agencies where additional support is required
