A vibrant secondary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Art Technician to support its successful Art department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for creativity and excellent practical skills who enjoys working within a busy educational environment.

Working closely with the Head of Art and teaching staff, you will ensure practical lessons run smoothly by preparing materials, maintaining specialist equipment and supporting students as they develop their artistic skills. The Art department provides students with opportunities to explore drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media while developing technical skills and creative confidence. As Art Technician, you will provide practical support that enables teachers to deliver engaging lessons while maintaining a safe, organised and inspiring environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing equipment and materials for practical Art lessons.
  • Maintaining specialist classrooms, studios and preparation areas.
  • Ordering and monitoring stock of art materials.
  • Preparing paints, clay, printing equipment and specialist resources.
  • Maintaining kilns and other specialist equipment.
  • Supporting teachers during practical activities where appropriate.
  • Displaying student artwork throughout the school.
  • Maintaining departmental inventory records.
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Supporting GCSE and A-Level coursework exhibitions.
  • Assisting with extracurricular Art clubs and enrichment activities.
  • Helping create an organised and inspiring learning environment for students.
