The Commercial Assistant plays a key role in supporting the commercial function by ensuring jobs are accurately processed and invoiced upon completion. Working closely with internal teams, you will identify, investigate, and resolve any outstanding issues that could delay invoicing, ensuring all work is billed promptly and in line with agreed commercial terms.

Responsibilities

  • Process completed jobs through the invoicing stage accurately and efficiently
  • Raise invoices in line with contractual and commercial requirements
  • Liaise with operational teams to gather missing or incorrect information
  • Investigate and resolve queries or discrepancies on completed jobs
  • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation
  • Proactively problem-solve outstanding issues to enable timely invoicing
  • Support the Commercial Billing Team with general administrative duties as required
  • Working within a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing process improvements to drive effectiveness
  • Provide reports to senior management as and when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a commercial, finance, or billing-based role is desirable
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Understanding of invoicing processes and commercial terms is advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident problem-solver with the ability to manage queries to resolution
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively
  • Competent with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (ERP or invoicing system experience desirable)
