March are seeking a Finance Manager to assist in the recording, preparation and monitoring of the cost value reconciliations and management accounts within their growing Process divisions. The Finance Manager is responsible for all management reporting of newly acquired companies and is the main link to head office commercial and financial teams. They will act as business partner to the operating stakeholders, enabling them to understand their contractual obligations and financial performance. As a project based business this role will oversee the production of monthly cost value reconciliations and revenue recognition for each project, along with driving project cashflow and highlighting risk. Note: This role is based onsite but will require travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cost and revenue downloads to operational teams in each business, allowing for review with the project and commercial leads of CVRs (Contract Valuation Report) at month end to the agreed timetable.
- Development of process to align to March.
- Integration of the companies to March reporting requirements.
- ERP implementation.
- Assist project managers in understanding the contractual obligations and financial frameworks of their projects.
- Challenge, verify and establish the trading position of the long‑term projects in the CVR meeting.
- Post adjusting entries from the final CVRs and ensure this reconciles to the trial balance.
- Put in place processes with operations to close out variations and final accounts quickly and to promote a strong cash‑driven culture within operational teams.
- Manage a small team within the Finance department, driving working capital and cash by putting in place processes to bill in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide detailed analysis and narrative of the operating results with reference to the appropriate forecast.
- Provide detailed analysis to operations to drive margin and working capital improvements.
- Take responsibility for reporting on overheads and submission of month‑end reporting packs to Group including analytical review of relevant sections in monthly management accounts and interrogation of underlying financials.
- Preparation and management of the cash forecast including submission to group on a monthly basis.
- Preparation, analytical review and challenge of relevant sections of budgets, forecasts and strategic plans.
- Provide information, support and analysis to the operational, commercial and financial leads within the business for strategic and operational decisions.
- Develop close working relationships with internal customers to fully understand the business as well as establish a credible & effective network of contacts.
- Assist in driving best practice within the business.
- Adhere to Group policies and processes within the department.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Previous experience in this role within a Projects based Engineering, Construction or facilities industry
- Deadline driven accounts Group reporting experience
- Excellent Excel skills and systems understanding
- Must have experience of projects accounting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast‑moving environment
- Experience of implementation of finance systems or change projects
