We are looking for a Facilities Engineer to join our team based on site in Leicester. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical / mechanical plant and equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical / electrical equipment to SFG20 standards. These will include HVAC systems, UPS Systems, RCD testing, PAT, Lighting, LEV’s and fume cupboards, Boilers and Air Compressors.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities using a CMMS.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory management for critical spares.
- Responsible for co-ordination of contractors including issue of Permit to Work.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and efficiency.
- Support black building testing and respond to alarms via the Trend BMS.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Specific Qualifications
- City & Guilds/NVQ - Electrical Installation / Maintenance or equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition IEE.
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent training.
- A demonstrable knowledge of building services engineering.
- Testing and Inspection certification = desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of BMS, generator, control, lighting systems, and ACOPS L8.
- IPAF/PASMA Beneficial.
