We are seeking a Process Electrical Estimator to support project delivery and business growth through the preparation of accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates. Operating within process-driven environments such as manufacturing plants and utilities, you will play a pivotal role in assessing project requirements, identifying risks, and developing commercially sound tenders for electrical installation works. This position is critical to ensuring projects are priced effectively and delivered successfully, combining strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness to drive profitability, maintain high standards, and support the organisation’s continued success in complex industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and tender documentation relevant to process industry projects.
- Develop detailed cost estimates covering power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and cabling installations.
- Liaise with suppliers and specialist subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing for materials and industrial equipment.
- Compile and submit comprehensive tender packages in line with client specifications and project requirements.
- Work closely with project engineers, designers, and project managers to define scope and resolve technical queries.
- Identify value engineering opportunities while assessing and highlighting potential risks and commercial considerations.
- Support the transition from tender stage to project delivery, ensuring clear understanding of scope and costs.
- Stay informed on market rates, emerging technologies, and best practices within the process and industrial sectors.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating tools, systems, and cost databases.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in estimating within the process, manufacturing, or wider industrial sectors.
- Solid understanding of electrical installations in process environments, including MCCs, control panels, hazardous area systems, and containment solutions.
- Good working knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations such as BS7671 and ATEX.
- Experience using estimating software packages (e.g. Trimble/Amtech, ConQuest, or similar tools).
- Ability to interpret and work from complex technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
