We are seeking a skilled and reliable Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of air conditioning systems across a number of commercial environments in and around Suffolk / Essex. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on air conditioning systems (split units, VRV/VRF, chillers, AHUs, etc.).
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and replacing filters, recordkeeping.
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues and make necessary repairs.
  • Monitor and maintain BMS systems and ensure optimal performance of HVAC controls.
  • Ensure compliance with F-Gas regulations and maintain accurate service records.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to coordinate specialist works.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota if required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and energy efficiency projects.
  • Production of detailed technical quotations - including correct parts and labour times required to ensure profitability, cost control and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain strict compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Work flexible working hours to suit business requirements.
  • Escalate issues to Supervisor/Contract Manager immediately.
  • Collaborate effectively with a skilled team to achieve client objectives.
  • Liaise with specialist sub-contractors and engineers with other disciplines to ensure the efficient operation of the plant / area without disruption to the client.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in HVAC maintenance and fault finding.
  • Additional skills in electrical or mechanical engineering (e.g., 18th Edition, plumbing, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to operate SMART devices and complete electronic documentation.
  • Strong fault-finding experience is essential in this role, and you will be expected to carry out works on traditional plant equipment right through to more modern systems.

Specific Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 Air Conditioning.
  • FGAS Cat 1.
  • Electrical qualifications would be beneficial.
  • IPAF/PASMA beneficial.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Due to the nature of the contract, you will need to go through contract specific vetting – financial and employment background checks.
  • Manufacturer course / knowledge.
