Our client are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Technician to support practical workshops, providing essential technical assistance to lecturers and students and helping to maintain a safe, well‑equipped, and high‑quality learning environment across our campuses. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong technical ability, excellent organisational skills, and a positive, student‑focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up workshops and classrooms for practical teaching and demonstrations
  • Manage stock levels, ordering materials, tools, and equipment in line with College procedures
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and compliance for hazardous substances, including risk assessments
  • Maintain, service, repair, and safety‑check tools and equipment, keeping accurate records
  • Support lecturers and students during practical sessions
  • Identify and report defects, faults, or health and safety concerns promptly
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating College values and behaviours
  • Participate in performance reviews and ongoing professional development
  • Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role

Key attributes

Essential:

  • Level 2 construction craft qualification
  • Level 2 Maths and English
  • Relevant industrial experience
  • Practical construction workshop experience, including maintenance and repair
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety in a workshop environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff and external contacts
  • Positive, flexible and proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload

Desirable:

  • Forklift truck licence or willingness to obtain
  • First Aid at Work qualification or willingness to achieve
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends
