Our client are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Technician to support practical workshops, providing essential technical assistance to lecturers and students and helping to maintain a safe, well‑equipped, and high‑quality learning environment across our campuses. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong technical ability, excellent organisational skills, and a positive, student‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up workshops and classrooms for practical teaching and demonstrations
- Manage stock levels, ordering materials, tools, and equipment in line with College procedures
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and compliance for hazardous substances, including risk assessments
- Maintain, service, repair, and safety‑check tools and equipment, keeping accurate records
- Support lecturers and students during practical sessions
- Identify and report defects, faults, or health and safety concerns promptly
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating College values and behaviours
- Participate in performance reviews and ongoing professional development
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role
Key attributes
Essential:
- Level 2 construction craft qualification
- Level 2 Maths and English
- Relevant industrial experience
- Practical construction workshop experience, including maintenance and repair
- Sound knowledge of health and safety in a workshop environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills with students, staff and external contacts
- Positive, flexible and proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload
Desirable:
- Forklift truck licence or willingness to obtain
- First Aid at Work qualification or willingness to achieve
- Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends
