The Utilities Engineer is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of utility systems across the site. This includes systems such as steam, water and HVAC, The role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while supporting production and site operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with the Team Leader escalating any problems or issues related to production and engineering.
  • Assist other skilled traders in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.
  • Ensure Utility service levels are maintained to support the production requirements of the site.
  • Become first response for Site Utilities:
    • Steam and condensate systems
    • HP/LP Compressed Air
    • Water Treatment and distribution
    • Effluent treatment and disposal
    • Chemical dosing and delivery systems
    • Cooling Tower and Legionella Control Systems
    • Building Management Systems
    • Air Handling and fixed Cooling equipment
  • Ensure Health & Safety and Statutory compliance of all assets within the March remit.
  • Carry out continual site monitoring to manage site environmental compliance.
  • Respond to crisis management through extended cover, call-ins and remote monitoring.
  • To actively and analytically find faults.
  • Operate in line with all March SHEQ standards and procedures.
  • To assist in setting of machines in conjunction with the operations team.
  • To adopt and share a can-do attitude.
  • Work alongside and provide support to the customer with a one team mind.
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum NVQ level 3 / a recognised apprenticeship in Engineering
  • Commitment to safe working practices
  • Ability to read engineering diagrams and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with digital maintenance planning software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with personnel at all levels
  • Excellent time management with the added need for flexibility as and when required to meet business needs.
