About the Role:
As the Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the accounts receivable function. You will be responsible for managing key accounts, overseeing credit control processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee credit control activities, including assessing creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and monitoring customer payment behaviour.
- Proactively chase outstanding debts through effective communication and negotiation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Customer Service).
- Resolve complex customer queries and disputes related to invoicing and payments in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and analyse accounts receivable reports, including aged debt analysis, and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient accounts receivable processes and procedures.
- Potentially mentor and support junior members of the finance team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
About You:
- Proven experience (3-5+ years) in a dedicated Accounts Receivable role, with demonstrable experience at a senior level.
- Strong understanding of credit control principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using accounting software/ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
- Ability to work independently, manage your own workload effectively, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong commitment to achieving targets.
- Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g., AAT) are desirable but not always essential with the right experience.
