An international market leading group in the media industry are looking for an interim Head of Group Tax for a period of at least 6 months to take strategic ownership of all tax matters (both direct and indirect) across the Group. This is a highly visible and strategic position, working closely with senior executives across the business. You will lead a high-performing team of tax professionals and oversee all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, and advisory across our global operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the group’s global tax strategy to align with business objectives and ensure compliance.
- Oversee all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, managing risks effectively.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Provide strategic tax advice on business activities, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.
- Monitor global tax policy developments and proactively adapt strategies to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, tax authorities, and other key stakeholders to ensure efficient tax operations.
- Drive process improvements and technology adoption within the tax function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead transfer pricing strategies.
- Primary point of contact for HMRC on all tax matters including general queries, information requests, disputes, voluntary disclosures and audits.
Person Requirements:
- Professional tax qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, CPA) or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in both direct and indirect taxation within a global organization or professional services firm.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of international tax regulations, transfer pricing, and cross-border tax issues.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day operational demands.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
