Marc Daniels are working with a well-known company in Manchester who are looking for a Senior finance manager to take ownership of the full month-end cycle and lead the management accounting function.

This is a high-visibility role within a busy finance function, offering the chance to drive process improvement, develop the management accounting team and partner closely with senior stakeholders across the group.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Owning the full month-end and year-end close cycle: journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
  • Producing monthly management accounts with clear commentary, KPI analysis and variance explanations for senior leadership.
  • Directly line-managing the management accounting team (Team of 8), including workload planning, performance management, coaching and development.
  • Reviewing and approving management accountants' work: P&L, balance sheet, flux analysis and month-end packs.
  • Maintaining and enhancing financial controls, policies and governance across the management accounting function.
  • Overseeing statutory reporting, audit coordination and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS as applicable.
  • Driving budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes in partnership with commercial and operational leaders.
  • Identifying and delivering process improvements, automation and system enhancements (ERP, reporting tools, workflows).
  • Providing strategic finance business partnering support to department heads and the executive team.

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
  • Proven experience managing the full month-end cycle in a complex, multi-entity environment.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading and developing a large team, with strong people-management and coaching skills.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP/IFRS) with a solid grasp of financial controls and compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with major ERP systems (e. g. SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
  • Commercial mindset with a focus on accuracy, timeliness and continuous improvement.
